Hello!
I'm Christian Byers, a 2022 graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Media Studies & Journalism and Communications.
My journey in journalism began with The Eastern Echo, our student-led independent newspaper, where I started as a Sports Writer. My passion and dedication led to my promotion to Sports Editor, managing a talented team of sports writers. By my senior year, I had the honor of serving as Managing Editor, where I led efforts to rejuvenate The Echo's print and digital media presence. Alongside this, I took on the role of Social Media Manager for the Women's Resource Center at Eastern Michigan University, further expanding my social media skills.
Post-graduation, I've been fortunate to gain a wide range of experience in Communications roles across both non-profit and for-profit sectors. I've worked with organizations like MHT Housing and Rocket Central, where I developed my skills in business agility, media strategy, and corporate communication. Currently, I'm a freelance writer for Rocket Companies, creating financial content for Quicken Loans and Rocket Homes. Concurrently, I've joined the social media team at AFC Ann Arbor, a semi-professional soccer team in USL League Two.
These diverse experiences have equipped me with a robust skill set in content creation and media strategy. I am passionate about leveraging these skills to create meaningful and impactful communication. I'm excited about future opportunities to continue growing professionally and contributing to dynamic teams.
